Seems like a lifetime for us! We have loved every second of setting up and establishing Marvel FMCG and are so excited about the journey ahead. We’ve spoken to our two co-founders, Rich Howell and Lucy Reeves about their first six months…

“What a great start to our business. We set up our business as an industry disruptor, we want to be different to the other recruitment companies. We put people, the planet and a purpose before profit.

“In the first six months of trading we’ve already reached our target for the whole year – donating £6700 to Alzheimer’s Society. We’ve smashed it! This is a charity that’s incredibly close to my heart. I lost my father to Alzheimer’s so I’m aware of the affect it can have on an individual and all of those who love and care for them. You can read why it’s so close to my heart here.

“I’ve loved working with new clients, getting to know candidates and matching people with their perfect roles. We’ve even launched our Diversity & Inclusion Strategy, which Lucy took the lead on, which now enables me to send blind CVs to clients, so that there is no unconscious bias in their decision making for interviews. This is a huge differentiator between us and the industry.”

“We’re so thrilled to have achieved so much more than we could have ever imagined in our first six months of business. Of course, Rich and I have had to work incredibly hard to get to where we are, but it’s all been worth it, seeing Marvel grow and develop into a company that is truly making a difference, and clearly demonstrating that recruitment businesses can be a force for good.

“I have worked on the Diversity & Inclusion Strategy which is now a huge focus for our business, to eradicate unconscious bias within the recruitment process. As well as that, we’re now Pending B Corp – which was a key motivation behind setting up Marvel.

“We’re aiming to be Net Zero by the end of 2021 and have joined the Better Business Act to lobby the government to affect change in requiring all UK businesses to think of the environment and people as well as business.”

Overall, the team at Marvel FMCG are over the moon with their first six months. Thank you to everyone who has made it possible, we love working with you. Here’s to the next six!
